Orchestra

The orchestra program began in January of 2019 as an after school program that offered violin lessons for students in fourth and fifth grade. In the Fall of 2019, we expanded to offering violin, viola and cello lessons but remained an after school program. In the Fall of 2020, the first Mazzuchelli Orchestra began. In the 2021-2022 school year we added Bass to the offered instruments, and the elementary program moved to the school day as pull out lessons at each site. In the Fall of 2022 the first Wahlert orchestra began. This was the first time Wahlert had an orchestra program since the early 1980's.

In February 2025 the Wahlert Orchestra took their first trip to the University of Dayton to perform alongside their University orchestra. They continued on their trip to clinic at Purdue University and ended their trip enjoying a performance by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

In 2022 we had eleven students in orchestra. In the 2025-2026 school year thirty-two students participate in the orchestra program and we will graduate our first class of seniors, which includes seven members.
